Answer: The author creates surprise when he sets up the expectation that Phythias will take Damon's place when he returns, but finally both men are willing to die for each other.

Explanation: In "Damon and Phythias", Dionysius, the ruler of Syracuse, condemns Phythias to death after Phythias criticizes him and describes him as a cruel man. Phythias accepts his fate, but he asks the ruler for permission to return to his home in order to say goodbye to his family. As Dionysius is not sure whether Phythias will return, Phythias tells him that Damon, his friend, will take his place until he comes back. In that way, the audience believes that Phythias will take Damon's place again when he returns, but the author surprises the reader when Phythias comes back and both friends reveal they are willing to die for each other. Therefore, the author completes the story with a situation that the readers did not expect to take place.

I WILL GIVE BRAINLIEST AND ALL MY POINTS THAT ARE LEFT!!!
sweet [91]

Answer:

"Childhood doesn't last forever"

Explanation:

The theme of the story Marigolds is "Childhood doesn't last forever". I decided this was the theme because when she pulls out the marigolds it represents how she is not a child anymore. When she sees her father crying, she realizes that adults fail and feels extreme disappointment. In tormenting Miss Lottie and ripping up what she tried to create, Lizabeth expresses some of her own internalized rage. However, as she looks at Miss Lottie, she suddenly feels ashamed, realizing she has victimized not an "other" or a "witch" but a real human being like herself. Instead of wanting to continue to express wrath at her, she feels compassion for this older woman.

edit:

here is the text evidence:

"The child in me sulked and said it was all in

fun, but the woman in me flinched at the thought of the

malicious attack that I had led. " "I had indeed lost my mind, for all the

smoldering emotions of that summer swelled in me

and burst—the great need for my mother who was

never there, the hopelessness of our poverty and

degradation, the bewilderment of being neither child

nor woman and yet both at once, the fear unleashed

by my father’s tears. And these feelings combined in

one great impulse toward destruction." " The years have put words to the things I knew in that moment, and as I look back upon it, I

know that that moment marked the end of innocence."

hope this helps :)

A. work in anticipation of changes in regulated variables.
dexar [7]

Answer:

A). Work in anticipation of changes in regulated variables.

Explanation:

Feed forward regulatory processes is illustrated as the paradigm that involves a control-system that responds to the environmental changes to ensure the continuity of a desired state. It primarily intends to adjust or alter the behavior in order to retrieve the equilibrium or desired state.

As per the question, feed forward regulatory processes 'work in anticipation of changes in the regulated variables' that assists in managing the behavior to fix the disruptions and achieve the 'homeostatic stable state' instinctively. Thus, option A is the correct answer.

. Why did Viola disguise herself as a man?
Fittoniya [83]

Answer: So she could find employment

Explanation:

In the play, ''Twelfth Night '' by William Shakespeare, Viola was shipwrecked and rescued but was now in a foreign land. She therefore needed a way to support herself and so needed employment.

In order to get over gender barriers to employment, she disguised herself as a man and picked the name Cessario to enter into the service of Duke Orsino, who rules Illyria.
