Consider the following pair of equations:
Aloiza [94]
Y = 3x + 3 this is equation 1
y = x -1 this is equation 2
since equation 1 and 2 already defined y in terms of x, we're just gonna substitute y into the other equation. as 2 is shorter I'm going with that today
x - 1 = 3x +3
-1 - 3 = 3x - x
-4 = 2x
x = -2
now we've got x just sub it in equation 2
y = -2 -1
y = -3
so the answer is (-2,-3)

Can someone help I don’t know the answer
Sonbull [250]
Y=2x-3

When you plug it in
2 times 2 is 4 minus 3 is 1

2 times 3 is 6 minus 3 is 3

2 times 5 is 10 minus 3 is 7

2 times 7 is 14 minus 3 is 11

Just plug in the numbers and you will see that
Y=2x-3 is the correct equation for those functions.

Trevor solved the system of equations below. What mistake did he make in his work?
wariber [46]

2x + y = 5

x − 2y = 10

y = 5 − 2x

x − 2(5 − 2x) = 10

x − 10 + 4x = 10

5x − 10 = 10

<em>add 10 to each side</em>

<em>5x-10+10 = 10 + 10</em>

<em>5x=20</em>

5x = 0    <em>this is the error</em>

He needs to add 10 to each side

Find the lateral and surface area of each cone
Sophie [7]

Answer:

\large\boxed{L.A.=153\pi\ mm^2}\\\boxed{S.A.234\pi\ mm^2}

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula of a lateral area of a cone:

L.A.=\pi rl

r - radius

l - slant height

The formula of a surface area of a cone:

S.A.=\pi r^2+\pi rl

We have r= 9mm and l = 17mm. Substitute:

L.A.=\pi(9)(17)=153\pi\ mm^2

S.A.=\pi(9^2)+153\pi=81\pi+153\pi=234\pi\ mm^2

I want to build a shed that is 16‘ x 20‘ while I am measuring the foundation I measure the diagonal from one born to another mea
lana66690 [7]

Answer:

the corner is not 90 degrees

Step-by-step explanation:

To confirm if the corner is 90 degrees, we would use Pythagoras theorem

The Pythagoras theorem : a² + b² = c²

where a = length

b = base

c =  hypotenuse

16² + 20² =

256 + 400 =656

find the square root of 656

= 25.6 feet

If the corner was 90 degrees the diagonal should be 25.6 feet and not 29 feet
