Solution: The total cost of the gift including the tax = $55.80

The amount paid by Montel = $14

The amount paid by Raymond is

\frac{1}{3} \times 55.80

18.6

Therefore, Raymond paid $18.6

The amount paid by Emily is

25% of 55.80

0.25 \times 55.80 = 13.95

Therefore, Emily paid $13.95

We also know that the remaining amount is paid by Leanne.

Therefore, the remaining amount is:

Total amount - Amount paid by Montel, Raymond and Emily

55.80 -(14+18.6+13.95)

55.80 - 46.55

9.25

The amount paid by Leanne is $9.25

We clearly see, Raymond has paid $18.6, which is the greatest part of the cost $55.80

(x√7 - 3√8 ) (x√7 - 3√8 )

To solve this question you must FOIL (First, Outside, Inside, Last) like so

First:

(x√7 - 3√8 ) (x√7 - 3√8 )

x√7 * x√7

For this you will multiply the numbers/variables on the out side together and separately multiply the values inside the square root together

(x*x)(√7*7)

x²√49

7x²

Outside:

(x√7 - 3√8 ) (x√7 - 3√8 )

x√7 * -3√8

(-3*x)(√7*8)

-3x√56

√56 can be further simplified to: 2√14

Now we have: -3x2√14 ---> -6x√14

Inside:

(x√7 - 3√8 ) (x√7 - 3√8 )

The process is the exact same as in the "outside"

x√7 * -3√8

(-3*x)(√7*8)

-3x√56

√56 can be further simplified to: 2√14

Now we have: -3x2√14 ---> -6x√14

Last:

(x√7 - 3√8 ) (x√7 - 3√8 )

-3√8 * -3√8

(-3*-3)(√8*√8)

9√64

9*8

72

Now combine all the products of the FOIL together like so...

7x² - 6x√14 - 6x√14 + 72

Combine like terms:

7x² - 6x√14 - 6x√14 + 72

^^^When you add together square roots the number inside the radical stays the same, and you combine the numbers/variables attached to the radical on the outside

You selected the correct answer:

7x² -12x√14 + 72

Hope this helped!

What are irrational numbers?<br> Are they related to Rational numbers?
emmainna [20.7K]
An irrational number is a number that cannot be expressed in a fraction form while a rational number can.

an example of an irrational numbers are repeating numbers such as 0.77777... and examples of rational numbers are decimals such as 0.20, whole numbers such as 5, and fractions like 2/3

hope this helps a bit.

1. Find the distance from point P to QS
12345 [234]

Answer:

5.7 units

Step-by-step explanation:

The distance from point P to QS is the distance from point P (1, 1) to the point of interception R(-3, 5).

Use distance formula to calculate distance between P and R:

PR = \sqrt{(x_2 - x_1)^2 + (y_2 - y_1)^2}

Let,

P (1, 1) = (x_1, y_1)

R(-3, 5) = (x_2, y_2)

Plug in the values into the formula.

PR = \sqrt{(-3 - 1)^2 + (5 - 1)^2}

PR = \sqrt{(-4)^2 + (4)^2}

PR = \sqrt{16 + 16}

PR = \sqrt{32}

PR = 5.7 units (to nearest tenth)

What is the probability that a five-card poker hand contains a flush (including straight and royal flushes), that is, five cards
pantera1 [17]

Answer:

3.924×10∧-9

Step-by-step explanation:

Royal flush contains five cards and it's probability is 0.3924%≈0.003924

Straight contain five cards and it's probability is 0.0001%≈0.000001

The probability including straight and royal flushes will be 0.003924×0.000001≈3.924×10∧-9

Find the maximum and minimum values of the objective function f(x, y) and for what values of x and y they occur, subject to the
Lady_Fox [76]

Given that <em>f(x, y)</em> is a linear function, and the constraints themselves are also linear, it follows that the vertices of the feasible region are the sites of extrema of <em>f(x, y)</em>. So just find where each boundary line intersects with another line, and check the value of <em>f(x, y)</em> at each intersection.

We have

• <em>x</em> = 0 and <em>y</em> = 0   ===>   (0, 0)

• <em>x</em> = 0 and 2<em>x</em> + 7<em>y</em> = 70   ===>   <em>y</em> = 10   ===>   (0, 10)

• <em>y</em> = 0 and 8<em>x</em> + 4<em>y</em> = 136   ===>   <em>x</em> = 17   ===>   (17, 0)

• 2<em>x</em> + 7<em>y</em> = 70 and 8<em>x</em> + 4<em>y</em> = 136   ===>   (14, 6)

At these points, we respectively get

• <em>f</em> (0, 0) = 0

• <em>f</em> (0, 10) = 60

• <em>f</em> (17, 0) = 34

• <em>f</em> (14, 6) = 64

Then max <em>f(x)</em> = 64 at (14, 6) and min <em>f(x)</em> = 0 at (0, 0).
