The correct answer is C. uses every resource available to him to fight the sharks.

Explanation: In "The Old Man and the Sea" by Ernest Hemingway, Santiago was more afraid of the sharks eating the fish he caught, but then sacrificed the fish for his own survival. The blood from the fish attracted sharks, and him harpooning the sharks drew more in. He was able to overcome it despite all odds being against him.

Alona [7]

Answer:

B. As in most traditional plays, the plot of act 1 of Beyond the Horizon is designed to provide exposition and build up the tension of the play.

Explanation:

Option B is correct, as there is exposition of the play’s main themes;

a) The urge to follow one’s dreams

b) The complex father/son relation

c) Husband/wife relation

d) Love triangle of Robert Mayo, Andrew Mayo, and Ruth Atkins.

Act 1 also serves as an exposition to the main internal conflicts of the play among following one’s dreams, desires, and destiny and external conflict between father and son.

Option A is not correct because Act 1 of “Beyond the Horizon” is not just a short prologue, but rising action or exposition of the play.

Option C is not correct, as neither in most traditional plays nor in “Beyond the Horizon” is the main conflict brought to a head.

Option D is not correct because in “Beyond the Horizon” Act 1 is just exposition of the internal and external conflicts of the play - we are nowhere near the resolution of the conflicts.

Sphinxa [80]

Answer:

Normally living with an extended family have many positive effects on the well-being of children because living with someone that you could trust and who will take care of the children without their parents inside the house can really give the assurance to the parents that their children will grow with a normal life In an extended family household the adults can share their worries, stresses and responsibilities with other family members like their parents, who genuinely care for their wellbeing. This often forms a close family support structure which in turn reduces individual stress and promotes happiness. Living in an extended family provides constant care for children and support for other members of the family as well. ... Being able to rely on not only two parents but grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, and sisters helps to create a support system which in turn brings families closer together.
