The cabinet is mounted on coasters and has a mass of 45 kg. The casters are locked to prevent the tires from rotating. The coeff
stira [4]

Answer:

the force P required for impending motion is 132.3 N

the largest value of "h" allowed if the cabinet is not to tip over is 0.8 m

Explanation:

Given that:

mass of the cabinet  m = 45 kg

coefficient of static friction μ =  0.30

A free flow body diagram illustrating what the question represents is attached in the file below;

The given condition from the question let us realize that ; the casters are locked to prevent the tires from rotating.

Thus; considering the forces along the vertical axis ; we have :

\sum f_y =0

The upward force and the downward force is :

N_A+N_B = mg

where;

\mathbf { N_A  \ and  \ N_B} are the normal contact force at center point A and B respectively .

N_A+N_B = 45*9.8

N_A+N_B = 441    ------- equation (1)

Considering the forces on the horizontal axis:

\sum f_x = 0

F_A +F_B  = P

where ;

\mathbf{ F_A \ and \ F_B } are the static friction at center point A and B respectively.

which can be written also as:

\mu_s N_A + \mu_s N_B  = P

\mu_s( N_A +  N_B)  = P

replacing our value from equation (1)

P = 0.30 ( 441)

P = 132.3 N

Thus; the force P required for impending motion is 132.3 N

b) Since the horizontal distance between the casters A and B is 480 mm; Then half the distance = 480 mm/2 = 240 mm = 0.24 cm

the largest value of "h" allowed for  the cabinet is not to tip over is calculated by determining the limiting condition  of the unbalanced torque whose effect is canceled by the normal reaction at N_A and it is shifted to N_B:

Then:

\sum M _B = 0

P*h = mg*0.24

h =\frac{45*9.8*0.24}{132.3}

h = 0.8 m

Thus; the largest value of "h" allowed if the cabinet is not to tip over is 0.8 m

How is the lifetime of a star related to its mass?
Flauer [41]
Stars having less mass collapses early than those with more mass. This can be explained by Einstein's equation E=mc².
According to this equation, mass of stars is converted into light due to thermonuclear reactions occuring in the core of star which acts as engine of the stars. This thermonuclear reactions keeps star alive. Thermonuclear reactions occurs slowly in massive stars hence massive stars live more than light stars.

A resistor has four colored stripes in the following order: orange, orange, brown and silver. What is the resistance of the resi
zubka84 [21]

Answer:

Resistance =330 Ω

Tolerance = 33 Ω

Explanation:

see attached resistor color code table

The first stripe is orange, which means the leftmost digit is a 3.

The second stripe is orange , which means the next digit is a 3.

The third stripe is brown.  Since brown is 1, it means add one zero to the right of the first two digits.

The resistance is:

orange-orange-brown=  330 Ω

The tolerance is:

The fourth color band indicates the resistor's tolerance.  Tolerance is the percentage of error in the resistor's resistance.

silver is 10%

A 330 Ω resistor has a silver tolerance band.

<em>Tolerance = value of resistor x value of tolerance band </em>

= 330 Ω x 10% = 33 Ω

330 Ω stated resistance +/- 33 Ω tolerance means that the resistor could range in actual value from as much as 363 Ω to as little as 297 Ω.

You plan to take a trip to the moon. Since you do not have a traditional spaceship with rockets, you will need to leave the eart
hichkok12 [17]

Answer:

v = 3.5 \times 10^5 m/s

Explanation:

At some distance from the Earth the force of attraction due to moon is balanced by the force due to Moon

so we will have

\frac{GM_em}{r^2} = \frac{GM_m}{(d-r)^2}

now we have

\frac{d - r}{r} = \sqrt{\frac{M_m}{M_e}}

\frac{3.844\times 10^8 - r}{r} = \sqrt{\frac{7.36 \times 10^{22}}{5.9742\times 10^{24}}}

so we will have

r = 3.46 \times 10^8 m

Now by energy conservation

-\frac{GM_e}{R_e} - \frac{GM_m}{d - (R_e + R_m)} + \frac{1}{2}v^2 = -\frac{GM_e}{r} - \frac{GM_m}{d - r}

-6.26 \times 10^{8} - 13046 + \frac{1}{2}v^2 = -1.15 \times 10^6 - 1.28 \times 10^5

v = 3.5 \times 10^5 m/s
