English

Bronx Masquerade is a beautiful portrayal of hat Harlem Renaissance stood for and how it helps one find their own self identity. I chose the part because of how effective it is in conveying its message.

Explanation:

Bronx Masquerade by Nikki Grimes is a wonderful book that delves into a classroom study of Harlem Renaissance, an important movement in African American art that influenced a wide variety of art work in the 20th century.

The novel uses the spoken word poetry form which finds its roots in the Harlem and uses it to lay bare the soul of the reader for themselves.

It is an unbridled exploration of the self and to find the qualities embed in humans.

In a way the book is what it is trying to preach and show which is very important.

Snezhnost [94]

Answer:

B.

Explanation:

When you describe a plural noun's possession, you add ' after the plural noun, e.g. my grandparents' house, BUT when the nouns are showing joint possession, only the second noun has to be possessive, e.g. United States and Mexico's border.

Hope this helps!

Which sentence best describes one effect of the poets use of figurative language in this excerpt?
Tatiana [17]

Answer:

D. It depicts the Vietnam War as a stone that heavily weighs on the speaker's conscience.

Explanation:

According to the lines from the poem Facing It by Yusef Komunyaka, the author talks about trauma and how when he turns one way the "stone let's him go" and if he turns the other way, he's back in Vietnam. This suggests that the poet is talking about a war veteran from the Vietnam war.

The sentence that best describes one effect of the poet's use of figurative language in the excerpt is option D which depicts the Vietnam War as a stone that heavily weighs on the speaker's conscience.
