it would be 2/5 since 1/5 is subtracted from your friend, and you are eating half which would be 2/5 since you have 4/5 now and 2/5 = half of 4/5. (Fun Fact: I cant even eat half a pizza).

If your friend ate 1/5 of the pizza, there is 4/5 left.

If you ate 1/2 of 4/5, you ate 2/5, and you left 2/5. Remember that to find 1/2 of 4/5, multiply the fractions to get 4/10, which simplifies to 2/5.

Final answer: 2/5 of the pizza.

For what values of x is the absolute value of x less than or equal to 1.5? (Hint: Substitute numbers into the inequality |x| ≤ 1
o-na [289]

Answer:

|x|<1.5

if x=0

0<1.5 is true

if x=1.5

1.5<1.5

true

if x=-1.5

|-1.5|<1.5

anything greater than 1.5 or less than -1.5 doesn't work

the way to solve is

assume that the inside is negative so if you had

|x|=a then to solve

x=a

x=-a

Solve for x:
5x - (x + 4) + 1 = 3 - 2(x + 6)
Degger [83]

Answer:

x = -1

General Formulas and Concepts:

Pre-Alg

  • Order of Operations: BPEMDAS
  • Equality Properties

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Define equation

5x - (x + 4) + 1 = 3 - 2(x + 6)

Step 2: Solve for x

  1. Distribute:                          5x - x - 4 + 1 = 3 - 2x - 12
  2. Combine like terms:          4x - 3 = -2x - 9
  3. Add 2x on both sides:      6x - 3 = -9
  4. Add 3 to both sides:         6x = -6
  5. Divide both sides by 6:     x = -1

Step 3: Check

Plug in x to verify it's a solution.

  1. Substitute:                    5(-1) - (-1 + 4) + 1 = 3 - 2(-1 + 6)
  2. Parenthesis (Add):        5(-1) - 3 + 1 = 3 - 2(5)
  3. Multiply:                        -5 - 3 + 1 = 3 - 10
  4. Subtract:                       -8 + 1 = -7
  5. Add:                              -7 = -7

4vir4ik [10]

Answer:

the volume of the cube will be 44 cm³ or D (nearest whole number)

Step-by-step explanation:

A cube has equal size of edges. Since it has a face diagonal of 5cm then using Pythagoras theorem s²+ s²= 5², where s is the side of the cube.

Therefore, 2s²=25

                   s²= 12.5

                    s = √12.5 = 3.536 cm

The volume of a cube is s³ (s×s×s) = 3.536³= 44.212 cm³,
