Solve and graph the equation x2+x-6=0

Mathematics

Y=x²+x-6 (original form ax²+bx+c)

1) this is a parabola open upward since the coefficient of x² is positive
so it has a minimum.

2) Its symmetry line = -b/2a = -1/2 & for x=-1/2, y= 23/4
So its minimum is (-1/2, 23/4)

3) Now to see if the parabole intercepts the x-axis we calculate the roots of
x²+x-6. As you will notice Δ <0 so there is no roots & consequently it doesn't intersect with x-axis
Your graph is wrong, and the parabola should be above the x-axis & it will intersect with the y-axis at y=23/4 =5.75nunits

An amusement park sells child and adult tickets at a ratio of 3:1. On Saturday, they sold 63 adult tickets. How many child ticke
nalin [4]

Answer:

The number of child tickets sold by the amusement park is 189.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let A represent the number of adult tickets and C represents the number of child tickets, therefore we have:

3:1 = C:A .................... (1)

Where;

C = ?

A = 63

Substituting for the value into equation (1), we have:

3:1 = C:63

This can be converted to solve for C as follows:

3 / (3 + 1) = C / (C + 63)

3 / 4 = C / (C + 63)

0.75 = C / (C + 63)

0.75(C + 63) = C

0.75C + (0.75 * 63) = C

0.75C + 47.25 = C

47.25 = C - 0.75C

47.25 = 0.25C

C = 47.25 / 0.25

C = 189

Therefore, the number of child tickets sold by the amusement park is 189.

Miguel Rodriguez Borrowed $400 from his brother Julio to pay for books and tuition. He agreed to pay Julio in 6 months with simp
DENIUS [597]

The simple interest is calculated as :

S.I = P*T*R

where S.I is the simple interest to be calculated

P = Principal

T = Time period in years

R = Annual interest rate

The the above problem,

Amount borrowed which would be the principal (P) = $400

Time period = 6 months = 1/2 year

Annual interest rate = 6.8% = 6.8/100 = 0.068

Simple Interest = P*T*R

Simple Interest = 400*1/2*0.068 = 200 *0.068

Simple Interest = $13.6

The simple interest amount that Miguel must pay to Julio at the end of six months is $13.6
