For numbers 9 and 10, you just need to find the slope and y-intercept. To find the slope, do change in y over change in x which would be -5 minus -3 over -2 minus -1. and that would equal -2 over -1 which simplifies to 2. So 2 is the slope! and that's a little confusing so I'll attach a picture showing those steps.

to find the y-intercept, plug in an ordered pair in the slope-intercept equation: y=mx + b. Let's just use (-1, -3). So for y, you'd plug in y from the ordered pair, -3, and for the slope (m) you'd plug in 2, since you found that earlier. for x, use the ordered pair again, -1. And you're trying to find the y-intercept (b) so leave that blank to find. So plug all the numbers in and you get -3 = 2(-1) + b. Which you then solve as a one step equation. Again, I've attached a picture if the words are confusing.

for number 10, do the same thing to find the slope! And they've given you the y-intercept in the problem (0,-5). Now I feel like I've written too much so I'll cover the other problems in another answer lol.

How would I solve this?? 5p-8(p+1)>16
alexandr402 [8]

*To solve inequalities is similar to solving equations: isolate the desired variable to one side.

So firstly, distribute -8 to (p + 1):

5p-8p-8>16

Next, combine like terms:

-3p-8>16

Next, add 8 to both sides:

-3p>24

Lastly, divide both sides by -3. Now since you are dividing by a negative, you will be flipping the inequality symbol as well. Your final answer will be p
