Two ropes, AD and BD, are tied to a peg on the ground at point D. The other ends of the ropes are tied to points A and B on a fl

agpole as shown below. Two ropes, AD and BD, are tied to a peg on the ground at point D. The other ends of the ropes are tied to points A and B on a flagpole. Angle ADC measures 45 degrees and angle BDC measures 30 degrees. The length of DC is 5 multiplied by square root of 3. Angle ADC measures 45 and angle BDC measures 30 . What is the distance between the points A and B on the flagpole?

The right triangle with  angle  45 ° has adjacent leg 9 feet
So the opposite leg is calculated from
tan 45 = opposite leg / adjacent leg ⇒ adjacent leg = 9 tan 45 = 9.
That is the distance bc.
The right triangle with angle 60° has adjacent leg 9 and opposite leg (x+9), where x is the distance ab.
Then tan(60) = (x+9) / 9 ⇒x+9 = 9 tan(60)
x + 9 = 15.59
x = 15.59 - 9 = 6.59

A man invests $16 800 in a saving plan that pays simple interest at a rate of 5%. Find the time taken for his investment to grow
san4es73 [151]

Answer:

  • 2.5 years

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Given</u>

  • Investment P = $16800
  • Interest rate r = 5% = 0.05
  • Final amount A = $18900
  • Time t = ?

<u>Use the formula</u>

  • A = P(1 + rt), where A - final amount, P - investment, r- interest rate, t- time

<u>Substitute the given numbers and solve for t:</u>

  • 18900 = 16800( 1 + 0.05t)
  • 1 + 0.05t = 18900/16800
  • 1 + 0.05t  = 1.125
  • 0,05t = 0.125
  • t = 0.125/0.05
  • t = 2.5 years

The width of a circular track is 2 meters. If the radius of the outer circle is 6 meters, find the area of the track.
Vilka [71]

Answer:

62.8 \:  {m}^{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

Radius of outer circle = 6 m

Width of the track = 2 m

So, radius of inner circle = 6 - 2 = 4 m

Area of the track = Area of outer circle - Area of inner circle

= \pi {6}^{2}  - \pi {4}^{2}  \\  \\  = \pi( {6}^{2}  -  {4}^{2} ) \\  \\  = 3.14 \times (36 - 16) \\  \\  = 3.14 \times 20 \\  \\  = 62.8 \:  {m}^{2}
