Answer:

(a) 2.793 m/s^2

(b) 0.335 N

Explanation:

Let a be the acceleration in the system and T be the tension in the string.

W1 = 3 N

W2 = 7 N

m1 = 3 /1 0 = 0.3 kg

m2 = 7 / 10 = 0.7 kg

θ = 30°

μ1 = 0.13, μ2 = 0.31

Let f1 be the friction force acting on block 1 and f2 be the friction force acting on block 2.

By the laws of friction

f1 = μ1 x N1

Where, N1 be the normal reaction acting on block 1.

So, f1 = 0.13 x W1 Cosθ = 0.13 x 3 x cos 30 = 0.337 N

By the laws of friction

f2 = μ2 x N2

Where, N2 be the normal reaction acting on block 2.

So, f2 = 0.31 x W2 Cosθ = 0.31 x 7 x cos 30 = 1.88 N

Apply Newton's second law for both the blocks

W1 Sin30 - T - f1 = m1 a

3 Sin 30 - T - 0.337 = 0.3 x a

1.163 - T = 0.3 a ..... (1)

W2 Sin30 + T - f2 = m2 a

7 Sin30 + T - 1.88 = 0.7 x a

1.62 + T = 0.7 a ..... (2)

By solving equation (1) and (2) we get

a = 2.793 m/s^2

(b) Put the value of a in equation (2), we get

1.62 + T = 0.7 x 2.793

T = 0.335 N

Answer:

a. a = 6.41 m/s^2

b. T = -0.81 N

Explanation:

Given,

  • weight of the lighter block = w_1\ =\ 3.0\ N
  • weight of the heavier block = w_2\ =\ 7.0\ N
  • inclination angle = \theta\ =\ 30^o
  • coefficient of kinetic friction between the lighter block and the surface = \mu_1\ =\ 0.13
  • coefficient of kinetic friction between the heavier block and the surface = \mu_2\ =\ 0.31
  • friction force on the lighter block = f_1\ =\ \mu_1N_1\ =\ \mu_1 w_1cos\theta
  • friction force on the heavier block = f_2\ =\ \mu_2N_2\ =\ \mu_2w_2cos\theta

Let 'a' be the acceleration of the blocks and 'T' be the tension in the string.

From the f.b.d. of the lighter block,

w_1sin\theta\ -\ T\ -\ f_1\ =\ \dfrac{w_1a}{g}\\\Rightarrow T\ =\ w_1sin\theta\ -\ \dfrac{w_1a}{g}\ -\ f_1\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,eqn (1)

From the f.b.d. of the heavier block,

w_2sin\theta\ +\ T\ -\ f_2\ =\ \dfrac{w_2a}{g}\\\Rightarrow T\ =\ \dfrac{w_2a}{g}\ -\ w_2sin\theta\ -\ f_2\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,eqn (2)

From eqn (1) and (2), we get,

w_1sin\theta\ -\ \dfrac{w_1a}{g}\ -\ f_1\ =\ \dfrac{w_2a}{g}\ -\ w_2sin\theta\ -\ f_2\\\Rightarrow w_1gsin\theta \ -\ w_1a\ -\ \mu_1w_1gcos\theta\ =\ w_2a\ -\ w_2gsin\theta\ -\ \mu_2 w_2gcos\theta\\

\Rightarrow a\ =\ \dfrac{g(w_1sin\theta\ -\ \mu_1w_1cos\theta\ +\ w_2sin\theta\ +\ \mu_2w_2cos\theta)}{w_1\ +\ w_2}\\\Rightarrow a\ =\ \dfrac{g[sin\theta(w_1\ +\ w_2)\ +\ cos\theta(\mu_2w_2\ -\ \mu_1w_1)]}{w_1\ +\ w_2}\\

\Rightarrow a\ =\ \dfrac{9.81\times [sin30^o\times (3.0\ +\ 7.0)\ +\ cos30^o\times (0.31\times 7.0\ -\ 0.13\times 3.0)]}{3.0\ +\ 7.0}\\\Rightarrow a\ =\ 6.4\ m/s.

part (b)

From the eqn (2), we get,T\ =\ \dfrac{w_2a}{g}\ -\ w_2sin\theta\ -\ \mu_2w_2cos\theta\\\Rightarrow T\ =\ \dfrac{7.0\times 6.41}{9.81}\ -\ 7.0\times sin30^o\ -\ 0.31\times 7.0\times cos30^o\\\Rightarrow T\ =\ -0.81\ N

The magnitude is 167.6cm and the angle (relative to the floor) of the displacement of p is 32.5 degree.

<h3>What is displacement ?</h3>

A displacement is a vector in geometry and mechanics that has a length equal to the shortest distance between a point P's initial and final positions. It calculates the length and angle of the net motion, or total motion, in a straight line from the starting point to the destination of the point trajectory. The translation that links the starting point and the ending point can be used to spot a displacement.

A point's ultimate location in relation to its original position, or a displacement, can also be defined as a relative position. The instantaneous velocity of an object is the rate at which the displacement changes as a function of time when studying motions of objects throughout time.

You are at the carnival with you your little brother and you decide to ride the bumper cars for fun. You each get in a different
Aliun [14]

Answer:

<em>a) The equation is </em>(m_{b}+m_{c} )u_{b} = (m_{y}+m_{c} )v_{y} +  (m_{b}+m_{c} )v_{b}

<em>b) Your velocity after collision is 2.64 m/s</em>

<em>c) The force you felt is 7392 N</em>

<em>d) you and your brother undergo an equal amount of acceleration</em>

<em></em>

Explanation:

Your mass m_{y} = 60 kg

your brother's mass m_{b} = 30 kg

mass of the car m_{c} = 80 kg

your initial speed u_{y} = 0 m/s (since you've not started moving yet)

your brother's initial velocity u_{b} = 3 m/s

your final speed v_{y} after collision = ?

your brother's final speed v_{b} after collision = ?

a) equations you need to use to figure out how fast you and your brother are moving after the collision is

(m_{y}+m_{c} )u_{y} + (m_{b}+m_{c} )u_{b} = (m_{y}+m_{c} )v_{y} +  (m_{b}+m_{c} )v_{b}

but u_{y} = 0 m/s

the equation reduces to

(m_{b}+m_{c} )u_{b} = (m_{y}+m_{c} )v_{y} +  (m_{b}+m_{c} )v_{b}

b) if your little brother reverses with velocity of 0.36 m/s it means

v_{b} = -0.36 m/s (the reverse means it travels in the opposite direction)

then, imputing values into the equation, we'll have

(m_{b}+m_{c} )u_{b} = (m_{y}+m_{c} )v_{y} +  (m_{b}+m_{c} )v_{b}

(30 + 80)3 = (60 + 80)v_{y} + (30 + 80)(-0.36)

330 = 140v_{y} - 39.6

369.6 = 140v_{y}

v_{y} = 369.6/140 = <em>2.64 m/s</em>

This means you will also reverse with a velocity of 2.64 m/s

c) your initial momentum = 0  since you started from rest

your final momentum = (total mass) x (final velocity)

==>  (60 + 80) x 2.64 = 369.6 kg-m/s

If the collision lasted for 0.05 s,

then force exerted on you = (change in momentum) ÷ (time collision lasted)

force on you = ( 369.6 - 0) ÷ 0.05 =<em> 7392 N</em>

<em></em>

d) you changed velocity from 0 m/s to 2.64 m/s in 0.05 s

your acceleration is (2.64 - 0)/0.05 = 52.8 m/s^2

your brother changed velocity from 3 m/s to 0.36 m/s in 0.05 s

his deceleration is (3 - 0.36)/0.05 = 52.8 m/s

<em>you and your brother undergo an equal amount of acceleration. This is because you gained the momentum your brother lost</em>

If a FM radio station broadcasts at 80. 3 MHz (megahertz), what is its wavelength in m (speed of light 3. 0 x 108 m/s)
hammer [34]

Answer:

Wavelength = 3.74 m

Explanation:

In order to find wavelength in "metres", we must first convert megahertz to hertz.

1 MHz = 1 × 10⁶ Hz

80.3 Mhz = <em>x</em>

<em>x </em>= 80.3 × 1 × 10⁶ = 8.03 × 10⁷ Hz

The formula between wave speed, frequency and wavelength is:

v = fλ  [where v is wave speed, f is frequency and λ is wavelength]

Reorganise the equation and make λ the subject.

λ = v ÷ f

λ = (3 × 10⁸) ÷ (8.03 × 10⁷)

λ = 3.74 m [rounded to 3 significant figures]

g Two radiation modes (one at the center frequency lIo and the other at lIO+?lI) are excited with 1000 photons each. Determine t
Schach [20]

Answer:

a) P=0.25x10^-7

b) R=B*N2*E

c) N=1.33x10^9 photons

Explanation:

a) the spontaneous emission rate is equal to:

1/tsp=1/3 ms

the stimulated emission rate is equal to:

pst=(N*C*o(v))/V

where

o(v)=((λ^2*A)/(8*π*u^2))g(v)

g(v)=2/(π*deltav)

o(v)=(λ^2)/(4*π*tp*deltav)

Replacing values:

o(v)=0.7^2/(4*π*3*50)=8.3x10^-19 cm^2

the probability is equal to:

P=(1000*3x10^10*8.3x10^-19)/(100)=0.25x10^-7

b) the rate of decay is equal to:

R=B*N2*E, where B is the Einstein´s coefficient and E is the energy system

c) the number of photons is equal to:

N=(1/tsp)*(V/C*o)

Replacing:

N=100/(3*3x10^10*8.3x10^-19)

N=1.33x10^9 photons
