Answer:

48.5 and 60.5 mph

Step-by-step explanation:

Given distance between A and B is 364 miles

Let they meet after y and 364 - y miles.

And, Let speed of one car is x then speed of other car will be (x + 12) mph

Also time after they meet is 3 hours and 15 minutes = 13 ÷ 4 hours.

Using the distance- time formula,

We get equation:

\frac{13}{4}=\frac{364-y}{x+15} \\and, \frac{13}{4}=\frac{y}{x}

Thus, After simplifying we get,

13x + 4y = 1261

and, 13x - 4y = 0

Solving we get the value of x = 48.5

Thus, the Speed is 48.5 and 60.5 mph

Maurinko [17]
Part 1: Create a scenario for an arithmetic sequence. For example, Jasmine practices the piano for ten minutes on Monday. Every day she adds her practice time by five minutes. If she continues this pattern, in the 7th day she will practice for 10 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 10 + 6(5) = 10 + (7 - 1)(5) = 20 + 30 = 40 minutes.
Hence the function for the 7th term in the sequence is a + (7 - 1)d = a + 6d where a is the number of minutes Jasmine practiced the piano on Monday and d is the additional number of minutes added by Jasmine to his practice time evey day.

The straight line 2x + 3y = 7 meets the curve
NISA [10]

Step-by-step explanation:

xy + 10 = 0. => y = -10/x.

2x + 3y = 7. => 3y = -2x + 7, y = -2/3 x + 7/3.

When -10/x = -2/3 x + 7/3,

-10 = -2/3 x² + 7/3 x, 2/3 x² - 7/3 x - 10 = 0.

=> 2x² - 7x - 30 = 0

=> (2x + 5)(x - 6) = 0

=> x = -2.5 or x = 6.

dy/dx = d/dx [-10/x] = 10/x².

When x = -2.5, dy/dx = 10 / (-2.5)² = 1.6.

When x = 6, dy/dx = 10 / (6)² = 5/18.

Hence the gradients at the points are 1.6 and 5/18.
