The operations vice president of Security Home Bank has been interested in investigating the efficiency of the bank’s operations

. She has been particularly concerned about the costs of handling routine transactions at the bank and would like to compare these costs at the bank’s various branches. If the branches with the most efficient operations can be identified, their methods can be studied and then replicated elsewhere. While the bank maintains meticulous records of wages and other costs, there has been no attempt thus far to show how those costs are related to the various services provided by the bank. The operations vice president has asked your help in conducting an activity-based costing study of bank operations. In particular, she would like to know the cost of opening an account, the cost of processing deposits and withdrawals, and the cost of processing other customer transactions.
The Westfield branch of Security Home Bank has submitted the following cost data for last year:

Teller wages $145,000
Assistant branch manager salary 60,000
Branch manager salary 94,000
Total $299,000

Virtually all other costs of the branch—rent, depreciation, utilities, and so on—are organization- sustaining costs that cannot be meaningfully assigned to individual customer transactions such as depositing checks.
In addition to the cost data above, the employees of the Westfield branch have been interviewed concerning how their time was distributed last year across the activities included in the activity-based costing study. The results of those interviews appear below:

Distribution of Resource Consumption Across Activities
Processing Processing
Opening Deposits Other Customer Other Totals
Accounts and Withdrawals Transactions Activities
Teller wages 4% 75% 18% 3% 100%
Assistant branch-
manager salary 8% 11% 27% 54% 100%
Branch-
manager salary 4% 0% 22% 74% 100%

The manager of the Westfield branch of Security Home Bank has provided the following data concerning the transactions of the branch during the past year:

Activity Total Activity at the Westfield Branch
Opening accounts 230 accounts opened
Processing deposits and withdrawals 51,000 deposits and withdrawals processed
Processing other customer transactions 1,150 other customer transactions processed

Required:
Compute the activity rates for the activity-based costing system. (Round your answers to 2 decimal places.)

Activity cost pool Activity rate

Opening account ? Per account opened
Processing deposit and withdrawals ? Per deposit or withdrawal
Processing other customer transactions ? per other customer transaction

A farmer and an investor negotiate a Futures Contract where Tomatoes will be sold
gogolik [260]

If prices rise to $15 from the original $12 it was at in 6 months, the person that benefits between the investor and the farmer will be the Investor.

Why would the investor benefit?

The investor has fixed the price of the tomatoes to $12 when they purchase it in 6 months.

This means that the new price of the tomatoes will not affect them and they will still spend less than the market price of $15 when they eventually purchase the tomatoes.

In conclusion, the investor benefits.

According to the washington post article the downsides of cheap corn, farmers' 2014 crop revenues were down from prior years, de
Law Incorporation [45]

Answer:The increase in the supply of crops had decreased price by a greater percentage than the percentage increase in the quantity of sales.

Explanation:

An increase in supply leads to a fall in price due to large volume of goods supply compare to non increasing demand and when the rate of fall is greater than sales this will not lead to a rise in revenue despite the increase in effective supply to the market.

At the end of 2016, Splish Brothers Inc. has accounts receivable of $675,100 and an allowance for doubtful accounts of $24,370.
ikadub [295]

Answer:

a.

Allowance for doubtful accounts $4,127

Accounts receivable $4,127

b.

The cash realizable value of the accounts receivable before the write-off : $650,730 and after the write-off: $650,730

This is the same amount

Explanation:

a. When write-off the receivable, the amount of the Accounts receivable of Splish Brothers Inc. will reduce. The company use Allowance for doubtful accounts to write-off receiable that is not collectible.

b.

Cash realizable value is the amount of money company expect to receive from the accounts receivable after deducting the uncollectable amount.

Cash realizable value = Accounts receivable - Allowance for doubtful accounts

Before write-off:

Cash realizable value = $675,100-$24,370 = $650,730

After write-off:

Accounts receivable = $675,100-$4,127 = $670,973

Allowance for doubtful accounts = $24,370-$4,127 = $20,243

Cash realizable value = $670,973 - $20,243 = $650,730

When the company write-off, the Accounts receivable and Allowance for doubtful accounts reduce the same amount. So, the Cash realizable value is not changed after write-off (this is the same amount before and after write-off)
