A large cylindrical tank contains 0.750 m3 of nitrogen gas at 27°C and 7.50 * 103 Pa (absolute pressure). The tank has a tight‐f

itting piston that allows the volume to be changed. What will be the pressure if the volume is decreased to 0.480 m3 and the temperature is increased to 157°C?

Answer: The answer is 68142.4 Pa

Explanation:

Given that the initial properties of the cylindrical tank are :

Volume V1= 0.750m3

Temperature T1= 27C

Pressure P1 =7.5*10^3 Pa= 7500Pa

Final properties of the tank after decrease in volume and increase in temperature :

Volume V2 =0.480m3

Temperature T2 = 157C

Pressure P2 =?

Applying the gas law equation (Charles and Boyle's laws combined)

P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2

(7500 * 0.750)/27 =( P2 * 0.480)/157

P2 =(7500 * 0.750* 157) / (0.480 *27)

P2 = 883125/12.96

P2 = 68142.4Pa

Therefore the pressure of the cylindrical tank after decrease in volume and increase in temperature is 68142.4Pa

A mutation occurs in a cell. Which sequence best represents the correct order of the events involved for this mutation to affect
Eva8 [605]

Answer: A change in the sequence of DNA bases--> Joining amino acids in sequence --> Appearance of characteristics

Explanation:

A mutation is a permanent shift or change from the normal DNA sequence that makes up a gene and affect traits which makes the sequence becomes different from what is commonly found in people. Mutations vary from distortion of a single DNA building block to a large segment of a chromosome.

When mutation occurs in a cell, for the mutation to affect the traits expressed by the particular cell, it must follow this sequence directly:

A change in the sequence of DNA bases--> Joining amino acids in the sequence --> Appearance of characteristics.

A gas has a volume of 62.65L at O degrees Celsius and 1 atm. At what temperature in Celsius would the volume of the gas be 78.31
Anastaziya [24]

Answer:

The volume of the gas will be 78.31 L at 1.7 °C.

Explanation:

We can find the temperature of the gas by the ideal gas law equation:

PV = nRT

Where:

n: is the number of moles

V: is the volume

T: is the temperature

R: is the gas constant = 0.082 L*atm/(K*mol)

From the initial we can find the number of moles:

n = \frac{P_{1}V_{1}}{RT_{1}} = \frac{1 atm*62.65 L}{(0.082 L*atm/K*mol)*(0 + 273)K} = 2.80 moles

Now, we can find the temperature with the final conditions:

T_{2} = \frac{P_{2}V_{2}}{nR} = \frac{612.0 mmHg*\frac{1 atm}{760 mmHg}*78.31 L}{2.80 moles*0.082 L*atm/(K*mol)} = 274.7 K

The temperature in Celsius is:

T_{2} = 274.7 - 273 = 1.7 ^{\circ} C

Therefore, the volume of the gas will be 78.31 L at 1.7 °C.

I hope it helps you!

For a caffeinated drink with a caffeine mass percent of 0.51% and a density of 1.00 g/mL, how many mL of the drink would be requ
Leno4ka [110]
  <span>(1) convert body mass in lb to kg

211 lb = (211 lb)*(1 kg/2.2046 lb) = 95.71 kg

(2) calculate the amount of caffeine required for a person of that mass at the LD50

(150 mg/kg)*(95.71 kg) = 14356 mg

(3) convert % (w/w) to % (w/v)

0.61% (w/w) = 0.61 g/100 g = (0.61 g)/((100 g)/(1.00 g/mL)) = 0.61 g/100 mL

(4) calculate the volume that contains the amount of caffeine calculated

14356 mg = 14.356 g = (14.356 g)/(0.61 g/100 mL) = 2353 mL</span>
