John Locke had the idea of natural rights, which he stated were life, liberty, and property. The founding fathers changed property to the pursuit of happiness

When the woman realizes the man doesn't recognize her when she lifts her veil -despite having given him hints that she was the woman in the picture- she learns she can never be the woman in the picture so she leaves.
