Answer:

Model is

b = 115m + 65

The slope represents the amount of balance offset per month

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, we want to model an equation.

The equation to model will be in the form;

y = mx + c

we have the following points to consider

The points are in the form;

(number of months, balance)

(m , b)

So the points we have are;

(4,755) and (5,640)

So the slope will be ;

(y2 -y1)/(x2-x1) = (755-640)/(5-4) = 115

So the equation will be;

b = am + c

where a is the slope and c is the y intercept

we already have the slope

so equation becomes;

b = 115m + c

let’s get the y-intercept

we can get the y-intercept by any of the points;

That would be; let’s use (5,640)

640 = 5(115) + c

640 = 575 + c

c = 640 -575

c = 65

So the equation of the model is;

b = 115m + 65

The slope represents the balance per month

To be an angle in quadrant II such that cos O= -5/8<br> Find the exact values of csc O and cot O.
Dvinal [7]

let's recall that the cosine/adjacent is negative on the II Quadrant, whilst the sine/opposite is positive on that same quadrant, also let's recall that the hypotenuse is never negative, since it's just a radius distance.

\bf cos(\theta )=\cfrac{\stackrel{adjacent}{-5}}{\stackrel{hypotenuse}{8}}\qquad \impliedby \textit{let's find the \underline{opposite side}} \\\\\\ \textit{using the pythagorean theorem} \\\\ c^2=a^2+b^2\implies \pm\sqrt{c^2-a^2}=b \qquad \begin{cases} c=hypotenuse\\ a=adjacent\\ b=opposite\\ \end{cases} \\\\\\ \pm\sqrt{8^2-(-5)^2}=b\implies \pm\sqrt{64-25}=b\implies \pm\sqrt{39}=b\implies \stackrel{II~Quadrant}{+\sqrt{39}=b} \\\\[-0.35em] ~\dotfill

\bf csc(\theta )\implies \cfrac{\stackrel{hypotenuse}{8}}{\stackrel{opposite}{\sqrt{39}}}\implies \cfrac{8}{\sqrt{39}}\cdot \cfrac{\sqrt{39}}{\sqrt{39}}\implies \cfrac{8\sqrt{39}}{39} \\\\\\ cot(\theta )\implies \cfrac{\stackrel{adjacent}{-5}}{\stackrel{opposite}{\sqrt{39}}}\implies \cfrac{-5}{\sqrt{39}}\cdot \cfrac{\sqrt{39}}{\sqrt{39}}\implies \cfrac{-5\sqrt{39}}{39}

Write an equation in slope-intercept form of the line that is perpendicular to the line represented by 8x-4y+9=0 and passes thro
WARRIOR [948]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

y - 3 = (-1/2)(x - 2)

Solve 8x-4y+9=0 for y so as to find the slope of this given line:

8x + 9 = 4y, or y = 2x + 9/4.  The slope of the given line is 2.  The slope of any line perpendicular to this one is the negative reciprocal of 2, which is -1/2.

Use the point-slope formula:  y - k = m(x - h ).  (h, k) is (2, 3) and m is -1/2.

Then we have:  y - 3 = (-1/2)(x - 2)
