Meanwhile, in the states without the mandatory helmet laws, only half of the citizens choose to wear helmets. It was also found that in 2011, over 56% of motorcyclists crashes were because of not wearing a helmet. 30 months after the law was changed, the number of riders killed nearly tripled.
