If you don't have a graph to use to figure out the slope of an equation you can use the formula:

y-y
----------- ( y-y over x-x)
x-x

if you substitute in the two coordinates you were given the new equation looks like this:

2-0
----------- =slope
-5-1.

If you solve you get 2-0=2 and -5-1= -6 so the slope would be:

-2
---- which simplifies to: -1/3
6.

I thought the answer was 15.48 but I don’t know the answer
aniked [119]

Given:

Total tips = $ 77.40

Ratio of tips sharing = 2 : 3 : 4

To find:

How much more does Brian get over Paul

Solution:

Let 2x, 3x and 4x be the cost of tips got by Paul, Colin and Brian.

Total cost of tips =$ 77.40

2x + 3x + 4x = 77.40

9x = 77.40

Divide by 9 on both sides.

$\frac{9x}{9}=\frac{77.40}{9}

x = 8.6

Brian gets = 4(8.6) = $34.4

Paul gets = 2(8.6) = $17.2

Difference = 34.4 - 17.2

                  = 17.2

Therefore Brian gets $17.2 more than Paul.

Express 15 x^1/3y^1/5 using a radical
k0ka [10]
In short, to convert two fractions to have the same denominator, we simply multiply one by the denominator of the other, so in this case, we'll multiply 1/3 by 5, top and bottom, and 1/5 by 3, top and bottom, thus

\bf a^{\frac{ n}{ m}} \implies  \sqrt[ m]{a^ n}
\qquad \qquad
\sqrt[ m]{a^ n}\implies a^{\frac{ n}{ m}}\\\\
-------------------------------

\bf \cfrac{15x^{\frac{1}{3}}}{y^{\frac{1}{5}}}\qquad
\begin{cases}
\frac{1}{3}=\frac{1\cdot 5}{3\cdot 5}\\
\qquad \frac{5}{15}\\\\
\frac{1}{5}=\frac{1\cdot 3}{5\cdot 3}\\
\qquad \frac{3}{15}
\end{cases}\implies \cfrac{15x^{\frac{5}{15}}}{y^{\frac{3}{15}}}\implies 15\cdot \cfrac{x^{\frac{5}{15}}}{y^{\frac{3}{15}}}\implies 15\cdot \cfrac{\sqrt[15]{x^5}}{\sqrt[15]{y^3}}
\\\\\\
15\sqrt[15]{\frac{x^5}{y^3}}

3/4 is the simplified version of 6/8. How I got this is I know that 4 goes into 8 twice so you multiply by 2. Whatever you do to the bottom you do to the top so you will get 6/8.
