If 10.0 grams of lithium hydroxide react as shown in the equation above, how many grams

Chemistry

Answer:

32.5g

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Mass of lithium hydroxide  = 10g

Unknown:

Mass of lithium bromide produced  = ?

Solution:

The equation of the reaction is shown below;

          LiOH     +    HBr  →   LiBr    +   H₂O

This is an acid-base type of reaction called neutralization.

To solve this problem, work from the known specie to the unknown. The known specie here is LiOH.

Find the number of moles of LiOH;

        Number of moles of LiOH = \frac{mass}{molar mass}

Molar mass of LiOH  = 7 + 16 + 1  = 24g/mol

    Number of moles  = \frac{10}{24} = 0.42moles

Now,

From the balanced chemical equation;

                 1 mole of LiOH produced 1 mole of LiBr

                0.42 moles of LiOH will produce  0.42 moles of LiBr

To find the mass of LiBr produced;

              Mass of LiBr = number of moles x molar mass

Molar mass of LiBr  = 7 + 80  = 87g/mol

             Mass of LiBr  = 0.42 x 87  = 32.5g

How does the environment influence natural selection?
Nonamiya [84]
The environment affects natural selection. Speices need to adapt to changes in environmnet. The weaker organisms which fail to adapt to environment perish while the stronger ones who adapt to the environment survive. This is how environment affects natural selection.

For the reaction ag2s(s) ⇌ 2 ag+ (aq) + s2- (aq), keq = 2.4 × 10-4 and the equilibrium concentration of silver ion is [ag+] = 2.
Juliette [100K]

Answer : The concentration of silver ion is, 3.8\times 10^{-3}M

Explanation :

Equilibrium constant : It is defined as the equilibrium constant. It is defined as the ratio of concentration of products to the concentration of reactants.

The equilibrium expression for the reaction is determined by multiplying the concentrations of products and divided by the concentrations of the reactants and each concentration is raised to the power that is equal to the coefficient in the balanced reaction.

As we know that the concentrations of pure solids and liquids are constant that is they do not change. Thus, they are not included in the equilibrium expression.

The given equilibrium reaction is,

Ag_2S(s)\rightleftharpoons 2Ag^+(aq)+S^{2-}(aq)

The expression of K will be,

K_{eq}=[Ag^+]^2[S^{2-}]

2.4\times 10^{-4}=(2.5\times 110^{-1})^2[S^{2-}]

[S^{2-}]=3.8\times 10^{-3}M

Therefore, the concentration of silver ion is, 3.8\times 10^{-3}M

To what final concentration of NH3 must a solution be adjusted to just dissolve 0.060 mol of NiC2O4 (Ksp = 4×10−10) in 1.0 L of
ololo11 [35]
Given:
0.060 mol of NiC2O4
Ksp = 4 x 10⁻¹⁰
1.0 L of solution
Kf of Ni(NH3)6 2⁺ = 1.2 x 10⁹
<span>NiC2O4 + 6NH3 ⇋ Ni(NH3)6 2+ + 2O4 2- </span>
<span>NiC2O4 ⇋ Ni 2+ + C2O4 2- ...Ksp </span>
<span>Ni2+ + 6NH3 ⇋ Ni(NH3)6 2+...Kf </span>

Ksp * Kf = (4 x 10⁻¹⁰) * (1.2 x 10⁹) = 0.48

K = 0.48 = [Ni(NH3)6 2+][C2O4 2-] / [NH3]⁶<span>
</span>0.48 = (0.060)² / [NH3]⁶<span> ... (dissolved C2O4 2- = 0.060M)
</span><span>[NH3]</span>⁶<span> = (0.060)</span>²<span> / 0.48 = </span>0.0036 / 0.48 = 0.0075
NH3 = ⁶√0.0075

NH3 = 0.44 M

Which type of change is represented?
pentagon [3]
The correct answer is A. The image shows a nuclear fission. This takes place in any of the heavy nuclei after capture of a neutron. This is the opposite of nuclear fusion. In this case, nuclei are broken down into two.
