Nationalism is always linked to a love for the country. The idea of homeland has a strong presence in the conception of the country as the sole source of security and the basis of life. Nationalism assumes the function of protecting the land and culture in which it is inserted, above all else.

The Articles of Confederation became the first "law of the land" for the United States in 1781, 4 years after it was created. However, it was not very effective. In 1787 plans were made to revise it, but politicians decided to do away with the Articles, creating the US Constitution, instead.
Hinduism's worship many gods that are parts of a whole soul (Brahman). Buddhism's don't rely on gods but how to stop suffering by right thinking and self-denial so they only worship the Buddah "The Enlightened One."
