Mathematics

You can always find the area from breaking it up into smaller shapes. For example, a hexagon is basically 2 trapezoids.
Some formulas for different shapes.
Trapezoid: <span>height × (base1 + base2) / 2
Rectangle: length x width
Parallelogram: height x base
Triangle height x base / 2</span>

Look at the table showing prices of different items at a store.
kati45 [8]

The types of items that cost less than $3.75 per item are Paperbacks and notebooks.

<h3>How do we determine the price of a unit item in a word problem?</h3>

The price of a unit item can be determined by dividing the total price by the number of units sold.

Given that:

Paperbacks sold 3 units for $10.65;

  • 1 unit will be sold for = $10.65/3 = $3.55

Notebooks sold 4 units for $14.36;

  • 1 unit will be sold for = $14.36/4 = $3.59

Puzzles sold 3 units for $11.85;

  • 1 unit will be sold for = $11.85/3 = $3.95

Picture frame sold 4 units for $15.20;

  • 1 unit will be sold for = $15.20/4 = $3.80

Therefore, from the above calculations, we can conclude that the types of items that cost less than $3.75 per item are Paperbacks and notebooks.

If x &lt; 0 and y &gt; 0, where is the point (x, y) located?
nadya68 [22]

Answer:

(x,y) is in the Quadrant II.

Step-by-step explanation:

The Quadrant II contains the x-values that are less than 0 (negative x-values), while the y-values are greater than 0 (positive y-values). Therefore, if x < 0 and y > 0, then point (x, y) must be somewhere in Quadrant II of the Cartesian Plane.
