How did Columbus hurt his relationship with the American Indians of Hispaniola during his first voyage to the Americas? He gave
mr Goodwill [35]

The correct answer is: He brought several of them back to Spain.

Columbus gave the American Indians useless glass beads in exchange of differents products. This didn't seem to hurt the relationship with them as they had never seen things like that before and were amazed.

Although he forced them to work too, by enacting policies of forced labour, the action that characterizes his stay in Hispaniola (today Haiti and the Dominican Republic) was taking prisoners and sending them to Spain to be sold. This lead to a fight in which some indians were killed. Some of the prisoners died before arriving to Spain. The ones left in the island were forced to search for gold.

How did the rise of nationalism, as seen in the ideas of Sun Yat Sen, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, and Mohandas Ghandi, help or hurt t
kap26 [50]
Sun Yat Sen used nationalism to help unite the 5 unique peoples of China. He had a flag made that used colors from each of their flags. He insisted they could not be a democratic nation as long as there was racial differences and must work united.M. Ataturk was a commander in Turkey. After the defeat in WWI he returned to Turkey determined to make it a democratic state. He made sure all people including women were provided a free and mandatory education. He made sure that the women were given equal rights and civil rights. He did much to lower the taxes on the poor. Ghandi led India towards nationalism by using non-violent civil disobedience. He worked for equality for women, easing the poverty levels, and making harmony between the different religious groups.

Hope these ideas are helpful.
