why it takes a long time because the person is growing rapidly , emotionally , physically, and also mentally . at the same time they are learning different patterns of living and how to survive . also they seek a better understanding of themselves or as many like to call it finding themselves. To forge their own identities to claim their own natural personality which can take a long time due to problems like self consciousness which drags that people to a slower development.
