Area= a^2

the diagonal "d" cut a square, making two right traingles

this fact lead us to use the pythagorian theorem which indicate that

d^2=a^2 +a^2

since we're solving for a square

2*(a^2) = d^2

dividing both side by 2

a^2= (d^2)/2

back the basic formula

area =a^2
