we know that

in the right triangle of the figure

Applying the Pythagorean Theorem

13^{2} =b^{2} +7^{2} \\ b^{2} =13^{2}-7^{2}\\ b^{2}=120\\ b=\sqrt{120} \ cm

therefore

the answer is the option

C) b=\sqrt{120} \ centimeters

The answer would be letter c because you have to use orders of operations io on aka A^2+B^2=C^2
how to set it up woulf look like this: a^2= 7^2
B^2=?, and C^2=13^2
in other words a=7squared
B=?
and C=13 squared
so the problem would end up like this:.7*7+B*2=13*13
49+B*2=169
so now you subtract 169 from 49 and that equals B*2=√120

WHY must the same operation be performed on both sides of an equation?
lys-0071 [83]

Answer:When you are given a problem, the two sides are equal, so they are equally weighted. As long as you do the same thing on both sides, they remain the same weight. The only way that one side can become "more weight" on a side is if you make a math mistake, and thus the answer would not satisfy the original equation

Step-by-step explanation:looked it up... have a good day!

The Pythagorean Theorem- Find the Missing Length:
drek231 [11]

The miles he drove North on Avenue B is 24 miles.

<h3>What is Pythagoras theorem? </h3>

According to the Pythagoras theorem, the square of the hypotenuse is the sum of the square of the opposite sides.

The Pythagoras theorem: a² + b² = c²

Where:

  • a = length
  • b = base = 7 miles
  • c = hypotenuse = 25 miles

<h3>How many miles did he drive north of Avenue B? </h3>

25² - 7²

625 - 49 = 576

√576 = 24 miles
