point slope form of a line

y-y1 = m(x-x1)

y-7 = -2 (x-1)

if you want it in slope intercept form

y-7 = -2x +2

add 7 to each side

y = -2x +9

Find the value of the expression |2x−8| where x=−2.5; 0; 4; 5; 9.5.
Lelu [443]

The absolute value |x| returns the "positive version" of a number. In other words, if x is already positive, then |x|=x. Otherwise, if x is negative, then the absolute value changes its sign, so that it returns positive: |x|=-x.

So, in this case, we have to plug the required values for x in the expression 2x-8. Then, if the result is positive we're ok, otherwise we discard the negative sign.

We have:

x=-2.5 \implies |2x-8| = |-5-8|=|-13|=13

x=0 \implies |2x-8| = |0-8|=|-8|=8

x=4 \implies |2x-8| = |8-8|=|0|=0

x=5 \implies |2x-8| = |10-8|=|2|=2

x=9.5 \implies |2x-8| = |19-8|=|11|=11

What is the average rate of change of f over the interval [3,4]?
masya89 [10]

Answer:

4

Step-by-step explanation:

The average rate of change of f(x) in the closed interval [ a, b ] is

\frac{f(b)-f(a)}{b-a}

Here [ a, b ] = [ 3, 4 ] , then

f(b) = f(4) = - 1 ← from table

f(a) = f(3) = - 5 ← from table , then

average rate of change = \frac{-1-(-5)}{4-3} = \frac{-1+5}{1} = 4

alexandr402 [8]

Answer: The value of cross price elasticity is 1.6.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

Percent change in price = 10%

Percent change in quantity = 16%

So, we need to find the cross price elasticity between the two movie club memberships.

As we know the formula for cross price elasticity :

\dfrac{\%\text{change in demand}}{\%\text{change in price}}\\\\=\dfrac{16}{10}\\\\=1.6

Hence, the value of cross price elasticity is 1.6.
