Which idea about the railroad is addressed in both Carver’s proposal and the Pacific Railway Act?

English
1 answer:
Gennadij [26K]3 years ago
5 0

They both present the idea of building a railroad through the rocky mountains, they have little differences in the origin since the Carver's proposal suggested to build it from Michigan Lake to the Pacific Ocean and the Pacific Railway Act states the idea of going from The Missouri river to the Pacific ocean. Even when they were proposed with a difference of 30 years one from the other it was also Dr. Hartwell Carver who was part of both proposals.

Vikki [24]

Answer:

A). An example of Procatalepsis.

C). Used by Reagan to acknowledge an opposing view.

E). Followed by a counterargument proving Reagan's point.

Explanation:

The given excerpt from Ronald Reagan's speech at the Moscow State University, the underlined words employ 'procatalepsis'(rhetorical exercise) to raise an objection over the common belief that 'freedom makes people selfish and materialistic' but he states that 'Americans are one of the most religious people on the earth.' The use of 'but' reflects the use of 'procatalepsis.' Reagan acknowledges the contradictory views by providing the reasons to substantiate the claim(why 'Americans are most religious people') which is followed by a counterargument to defy George Washington's claim and validate his point. Thus, options A, C, and E are the correct answers.

Which has the most positive connotation? A Chubby B plump C fat D Dumpy
Pachacha [2.7K]
I would probably say plump.

Essentially, in this question, you're looking for the word that would be the least insulting. More broadly, when asked about positive connotation, you're looking for a word that is not viewed negatively.

Words like fat and cheap have negative connotations, especially when applied to people. Words like plump and frugal are much more positive.
