The figure shown has a parallelogram on top and a rectangle below it:
Verdich [7]

Area of a parallelogram = b×h
= 13.4×48.2
= 645.88 inches square
Area of rectangle = l×b
=7.3×48.2
= 351.86
Area of the figure = (b×h) + (l×b)
=645.88+351.86
= 997.74 inches square
Therefore, the answer is option C

What is the slope intercept form for the equation of the line provided?
denis-greek [22]

1. The slope intercept form is:

y=mx+b

Where m is the slope of the line and b is the intercept with the y-axis.

2. To calculate the slope, you can use the following formula:

m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Where:

y_2=-1\\y_1=\frac{15}{2}\\x_2=\frac{1}{8}\\x_1=-2

3. So:

m=\frac{-1-(\frac{15}{2})}{\frac{1}{8}-(-2)}=-4

4. Now you must find b. Substitute any of the given points into the equation and solve for b:

\frac{15}{2}=-4(-2)+b\\\frac{15}{2}=8+b\\b=-\frac{1}{2}

5. Therefore, the answer is the last option:

y=-4x-\frac{1}{2}

Couldn't you use the law of cosines to find one angle and use the law of sines to find the rest
steposvetlana [31]
Correct. In the case where you are given enough information to use the law of cosines you could in fact then use the law of sines afterwards to find your remaining angle. That being said beware of solutions that don't make a feasible triangle (if you were using the law of cosines you only have one angle, so that means whatever your second angle is that you found using the law of sines can't make your sum go over 180, because you still need some angle left for the last angle).

The triangles are similar. Find the value of the variable.
Bad White [126]
Answer is z=36
First find the ratio of the similar sides
55/44 = 1.25 ratio
Divide 45 by the ratio to find z
45/1.25 = 36
