Answer:

x = 8 and y = -1.

Step-by-step explanation:

b^x / b^y = b^9

By the law of indices:-

b^(x - y) = b^9

therefore x - y = 9..........(1) . Also:

(b^x * b^2) / b^3y = b^13

b^(x + 2) / b^3y = b^13

b^(x + 2 - 3y) = b^13

Therefore x + 2 - 3y = 13.........(2)

From equation (1) y = x - 9 so substituting in equation 2:

x + 2 - 3(x - 9) = 13

x + 2 - 3x + 27 = 13

-2x = 13 - 2 - 27 = -16

x = 8

and from equation (1) y = 8-9 = -1

Can anyone help me with 28, 33, and 34
bija089 [108]

28. -1/3=r-3/4

Move -3/4 to the other side. Sign changes from -3/4 to +3/4

-1/3+ 3/4=r-3/4+3/4

-1/3+3/4=r

Find the common denominator for both of the fractions which is 12. Multiply by 4 for -1/3. Multiply by 3 for 3/4.

-1/3(4)+3/4(3)= -4/12+9/12= 5/12

33. -5/6+c=-11/12

c=-11/12+5/6

Find the common denominator which is 12 for 5/6. Multiply by 2. 5*2=10, 6*2=12

c=-11/12+10/12=-1/12

34. s-1/9=5/18

s-1/9+1/9=5/18+1/9

Find the common denominator which is 18. Mutiply by 2 for 1/9 . 1*2=2, 9*2=18

s=5/18+2/18=7/18

Answers:

28. 5/12

33. -1/12

What is the value of x in the equation 1.5(x + 4) – 3 = 4.5(x – 2)?
a 3
b 4
c 5
d 9
Pepsi [2]
The answer would be B) x = 4.

1.5x + 6 - 3 = 4.5x - 9

1.5x + 3 = 4.5x - 9

3 = 4.5x - 9 - 1.5x

3 = 3x - 9

3 + 9 = 3x

12 = 3x

12/3 = x

4 = x

x = 4.

Step-by-step explanation:

19.

a) to find thhe x- intercept we make y=0

x² +4x -5 = 0

(x+5)(x-1) =0

x+5=0 so x=- 5

x-1 =0 so x= 1

b)

y-intercept is at (0, -5)

c)

axis of symmetry is at

x=-b/2a =-4/2*1 = -2

x= -2

d)

vertex is at (-2, -9) because x coordinate is on the axis of symmetry at -2 and

y= x² +4x -5= (-2) ² +4(-2) -5 = 4-8-5 = 4-13 = -9
