If the sum of five consecutive even integers is t, then, in terms of t, what is the greatest integer?
Andre45 [30]
Let x be first integer the we have the sum:-

x + x +2  + x+4 + x+6 + x + 8 = t

5x + 20 = t

5x = t - 20
and x = (t - 20) / 5

so the greatest integer x + 8 = (t - 20) / 5 + 8  =  (t - 20)/5 + 40/5

=  (t + 20) / 5  answer
