The perimeter of Jake window is 16x - 2 inches

<h3><u>Solution:</u></h3>

Given that height of Jake window is 5x - 3 inches

Also given that width is 3x + 2 inches

To find: perimeter of Jake window

We know that, in general a window is of rectangular shape

<em><u>The perimeter of rectangle is given as:</u></em>

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + width)

Substituting the values we get,

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(5x - 3 + 3x + 2)

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(8x - 1) = 16x - 2

Hence, the perimeter of the window is 16x – 2 inches

Callie and Madison went to buy concert tickets for themselves and their five friends. The
nika2105 [10]

Answer:

They bought 0 ticket of closest section and 7 tickets of other section

Step-by-step explanation:

- Callie and Madison went to buy concert tickets for themselves and

  their five friends

- That mean they are 7

- Tickets for the closest section were $45 each

- Tickets for other section were $30 each

- They  ended up spending a total of $210

- Assume that they buy x tickets for closest section and y tickets for

 the other section

∵ They want 7 tickets

∴ x + y = 7 ⇒ (1)

∵ The cost of the closest section ticket was $45

∵ The cost of the other section ticket was $30

∵ They spent $210 on them

∴ 45x + 30y = 210

- All terms have common factor 15, then divide them by 15

∴ 3x + 2y = 14 ⇒ (2)

* Now we have a system of equations to solve

- Multiply equation (1) by -2 to eliminate y

∴ -2x - 2y = -14 ⇒ (3)

- Add equations (2) and (3)

∴ x = 0

- substitute the value of x in equation (1) to find y

∴ 0 + y = 7

∴ y = 7

∵ x represents the number of tickets of the closest section and y

represents the number of tickets in the other section

∴ They bought 0 ticket of closest section and 7 tickets of other

Factor the polynomial by its greatest common monomial factor.
inna [77]

Answer:

5 {y}^{2} (4 {y}^{4} - 3 {y}^{2} + 8)

Step-by-step explanation:

We want to factor the common monomial out of :

20 {y}^{6}  - 15 {y}^{4}  + 40 {y}^{2}

The greatest common monomial fact is

5 {y}^{2}

We factor to get:

5 {y}^{2} (4 {y}^{4} - 3 {y}^{2} + 8)

The expression in the parenthesis has no common factor again since we factored the greatest common factor.

Answer:

  135.1 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

The Pythagorean theorem tells you how to find the hypotenuse of a right triangle with legs 120 and 62:

  diagonal = √(120² +62²) = √18244 ≈ 135.07

The length of one of the braces is about 135.1 cm.

<h3>Answer:  Choice D)  -$22</h3>

You'll lose on average $22 per roll.

====================================================

Explanation:

Normally there is a 1/6 chance to land on any given side of a standard die, but your friend has loaded the die in a way to make it have a 40% chance to land on "1" and an equal chance to land on anything else. Since there's a 40% chance to land on "1", this leaves 100% - 40% = 60% for everything else.

Let's define two events

  • A = event of landing on "1".
  • B = event of landing on anything else (2 through 6).

So far we know that P(A) = 0.40 and P(B) = 0.60; I'm using the decimal form of each percentage.

The net value of event A, which I'll denote as V(A), is -100 since you pay $100 when event A occurs. So we'll write V(A) = -100. Also, we know that V(B) = 30 and this value is positive because you receive $30 if event B occurs.

To recap things so far, we have the following:

  • P(A) = 0.40
  • P(B) = 0.60
  • V(A) = -100
  • V(B) = 30

Multiply the corresponding probability and net value items together

  • P(A)*V(A) = 0.40*(-100) = -40
  • P(B)*V(B) = 0.60*30 = 18

Then add up those products:

-40+18 = -22

This is the expected value, and it represents the average amount of money you earn for each dice roll. So you'll lose on average about $22. Because the expected value is not zero, this means this game is not mathematically fair.

This does not mean that any single die roll you would lose $22; instead it means that if you played the game say 1000 or 10,000 times, then averaging out the wins and losses will get you close to a loss of $22.
