Alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) is an enzyme that aids in the decomposition of ethyl alcohol (CH3OH) into nontoxic substances. Methy
Thepotemich [5.8K]

Answer:

d. Competitive inhibition will decrease because the proportion of the active sites occupied by substrate will increase.

Explanation:

Enzymes are bio catalysts in living cells responsible for aiding biochemical reactions.

Their active sites are primary protein  3D structure  for binding with substrates during   reactions.

Enzymes reactions are usually affected by inhibitors(e.g methyl alcohol) which compete with the active site with the actual substrate(ethyl alcohol) ,

This is an example of competitive inhibition. The more ethyl alcohol available, the more active sites  occupied, therefore denying the inhibitor methylalchol  chances to the active site, thus preventing the formation of toxic formaldehyde, and more of non toxic substances from formation of more ADH-METHYL ALCOHOL COMPLEXES at the active sites

Why are aseptic procedures important in Microbiology laboratory health care industry?
Sever21 [200]

Answer:

Aseptic technique is important in the microbiology laboratory health care industry because it reduces the contamination risk that can have serious implications on the health of a person.

If aseptic procedures are not performed in the Microbiology laboratory and health care industry then there would be chances of getting the disease because in health care industries pathogenic samples from patients are processed which can be transferred in the employee while processing if correct aseptic technique is not used.

Aseptic procedures include wearing lab coats and other protective suits while working which cover all body and give protection from entry of pathogens. Sterilization of surface where work is going on, proper sterilization of all pathogenic cultures.

Therefore aseptic procedures are important to avoid contamination in the microbiology laboratory.

The Moon and stars seem to move from _____________________________ to __________________________________ across the night sky
seraphim [82]

Answer:

east to west

Explanation:

The stars and moon are the celestial bodies which are located at distant.

The distance of stars vary but moon and sun remain same. As our Earth rotates at its own axis, other celestial bdies seem to move.

As Earth spins from west to east, the stars and moon seems to move from east to west direction at night and same with Sun, it also seem to move from east to west.

Hence, the correct option is east to west.

True or false: Theoretically, it is possible (but very difficult) for a population to not evolve for a while.
Debora [2.8K]

It is true that it is possible for a population to not evolve for a while.

There is something called the Hardy-Weinberg theorem, which characterizes the distributions of genotype frequencies in populations that are not evolving.

There are 5 Hardy-Weinberg assumptions:

  • no mutation
  • random mating
  • no gene flow
  • infinite population size
  • and no selection (natural nor forced).

You can see that some of these are kinda extreme and really hard to get, but with approximations, we can work.

For example, instead of an "infinite population size" we have enough with a really large population, such that genetic drift is negligible.

Concluding, yes, it is possible (but really difficult) for a population to not evolve for a while (at least, in nature), as long as the 5 assumptions above are met.
