Pythagorean theorem, a^2 + b^2 = c^2
5 squared is 25, 8 squared is 64, square root of 89 is 9.43 thus the hypotenuse is 9.43, correct me if I'm wrong but that is what I got

Answer:

The value of x is \sqrt{89}

Step-by-step explanation:

 Given : A right angled triangle with base = 8 , perpendicular = 5

We have to find the value of  x that is we have to find the length of hypotenuse.

Consider the given right angled triangle,

PYTHAGORAS THEOREM states that for a given right angle triangle the  sum of square of base and perpendicular is equal to the square of hypotenuse.

Mathematically written as ,

H^2=B^2+P^2

Here, B = 8 , P = 5

substitute, we have,

H^2=8^2+5^2

Simplify, we have,

H^2=64+25

H^2=89

Taking square root both side, we have,

H=\sqrt{89}

Thus, The value of x is \sqrt{89}

2x +1 < 5 what would be the inequality for this ?
Juli2301 [7.4K]

Hey there!

2x + 1 < 5

SUBTRACT 1 to BOTH SIDES

2x + 1 - 1 < 5 - 1

SIMPLIFY IT!
2x < 5 - 1

2x < 4

DIVIDE 2 to BOTH SIDES

2x/2 < 4/2

SIMPLIFY IT!
x < 4/2

x < 2

Therefore, your answer is: x < 2

(The graph is down below)

Good luck on your assignment & enjoy your day!

Slope of 2 and passes through the point (-4,3). Write the equation in slope intercept form
erastova [34]

Answer:

The equation is y = 2x + 11.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that the gradient of the equation is 2. Using slope-form formula, y = mx+b where m is gradient and b is y-intercept. In order to find b, you have to substitute x-coordinate and y-coordinate into the equation :

y = mx + b

m = 2

At(-4,3),

3 = 2(-4) + b

b = 3 - 2(-4)

= 11
