6*12= 72
72*(2/3)=48
The farmer has 48 brown eggs

6 cartons of one dozen eggs. 1 dozen eggs = 12 eggs; so 12 (eggs) x 6 (cartons) = 72; so 72*2/3= 48 I hope you understand :-)
