Answer:

Financial circumstances; home life

Explanation:

Subjective well-being (SWB) is a self-reported measure of well-being.

Nikita comes from a country with a relatively low average income, therefore Nikita's subjective well-being is especially likely to be influenced by satisfaction with her FINANCIAL CIRCUMSTANCES. This is because she earns a low income which is likely to be a challenge in her new location, financial circumstances would influence her lifestyle, so she has to be extremely economical.

Meanwhile, Francoise lives in a country, where the standard of living is fairly high. Francoise's subjective well-being is especially likely to be influenced by satisfaction with her HOME LIFE. Francoise is more financially stable, so she doesn't need to be so economical with her spending, her well being is based on her home life.

Llana [10]

Answer:

1. Propaganda is used to control the citizens of society.

2. Information, independent thought, and freedom are restricted.

3. Citizens have a fear of the outside world.

4. Citizens live in a dehumanized state.

5. The society is an illusion of a perfect utopian world.

Explanation:

The passage in the question is from the very first paragraph of the text of Kurt Vonnegut's "Harrison Bergeron", a novel about a dystopian world. This excerpt shows the perceived "perfect utopian world' whereas the citizens still seem to be under the constant threat of being 'punished'.

The passage is also an example of the characteristics of a dystopic world that is the setting of the story. Here, propaganda is used as a means to control the citizens, with the restriction of the information and various other independent thoughts. This led to the fear and reluctance of the citizens in associating with the outside world, and the dehumanization of the perceived perfect society. All these is an illusion that the society they are living is the perfect utopian world.

The lecture claims that an argument is no good unless it has a "strong and reasoned ethical base." Do you agree that ethics is a
8090 [49]

Answer with Explanation:

The evaluation of every matter requires a framework based on a useful ideas that are required for a better judgement for deriving a solution like if we want to resolve a mathematical problem, then we will use mathematical functions like +, -, *, etc so that we are able to solve the question because these are the ideas that are based on a useful ideas (Logic). Likewise when we want to assess whether the argument is good or not, we will require an ethical standard framework to evaluate the good in the argument.

So yes, I agree that ethics is an essential element of a good argument because it is the framework which decides which argument is good or not. These ethical values in a particular argument is a move from not good to good argument. Greater the ethical values in an argument the more is the argument good as per ethical principles.
