The main reason for the USA’s military intervention in the Korean war was that of containment. The American aims was to work with its allies to contain the spread of soviet and communist Chinese power using political, economic and if necessary military pressures. Any failure of containment was potentially disastrous. According to the USA the loss of SK might well lead to a chain reaction leading to the loss of much of the rest of Asia, including Japan.
Herbert Hoover was a commerce secretary before running for president. This way he was aware of the US Economy as a whole. Based on this experience he developed a singular view of what should be the American Society. He thought that America should be more efficient if eradicated waste and created a better business cycle. In order to do this, according to his ideas, business leaders could be working together with the government (although without interference from the White House) and with experts in Social Sciences in order to improve Economy and made it healthier.
With all those efforts, he thought that America could finally improve what he called the main component of the American experience: The individualism, his superior principle in wich society should gather to organize itself.
