  • <em>Hundreds of artists were hired to create posters to inspire citizens to do their part at the home front. In 1939, Americans were divided about whether to intervene in the war. However, after the Pearl Harbor attack in December 1941 the United States decided to participate. After they entered the war they needed to gain support from their citizens, artists created posters to gain their support. These posters were created so that citizens  bought war bonds and start working in the factories. There is a very popular poster in which Uncle Tom demands to buy war bonds.</em>
