Bacterial infections are treated with prescription from a medical practitioner - the drugs prescribed are generally called antibiotics.  These antibiotics help in destroying or slowing down the growth of the bacteria.

Good hygiene is a good method of preventing bacterial infection. For example, some bacteria are known to feed on dead cells on the skin, hence if the skin is clean and free of dead cells, such skins would not be habitable for these bacteria
