Which ordered pair is the solution to the system of equations below using the elimination method

Mathematics

8 0
{ 8, -6 } as you multiply the first equation with 1.25 to get :
5x + 7.5y = - 5

then, you use elemination by substraction to get rid of x:
2.5y = - 15

try to solve for y to get y = -6, and then you use either equation 1 or 2 to find the value of x, which in both cases is equal to 8.

4. Suppose P(A) = 0.48 and P(B) = 0.62. a. Can A and B be mutually exclusive? Why or why not. b. If A and B are independent, the
kenny6666 [7]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

a) Two events A,B are said to be mutually exlusive if any of the following occurs.

- A and B have an empty intersection

- A= B^c and their union is the whole sample space

- P(A intersection B) =0

REcall the following formula

P(A\cupB ) = P(A)+P(B)-P(A\cap B)

Note that P(A) + P(B) = 1.1. Since the probability is always a number between 0 and 1, it must happen that P(A\cap B) >0, otherwise, A\cup B would have a probability greater than 1. Hence, A, B are not mutually exclusive.

b) by definition, if two events are indepent, we have that the probability of the intersection is equal to products of their probabilites. Or

P(A\cap B) = P(A)P(B)

c) Recall that if we have mutuallly exclusive events A, B, then we have that P(A\cap B)=0, if they were independent, we would have the following

P(A) P(B) =0

which necesarilly implies that at least one of the two events has 0 probability. (THis is not the case)

Please help!!! I don't get this!!! 100 POINTS!!!!
Irina18 [472]

Recognizing that the dotted line is sin(x) and solid line is cos(x), it's clear to see that the sin(x) has a larger amplitude than cos(x). So, we get a1 > a2.

Only B and E satisfies the above. But E is clearly incorrect since amplitude cannot be less than 0.

Therefore, B would be the correct choice.

Find x: 50*5x=5000

A) 25
B) 20
C) 50
D) 75
Alisiya [41]

Answer:

\huge\boxed{B) x = 20}

Step-by-step explanation:

50 * 5x = 5000

Dividing both sides by 50

=> 5x = 5000/50

=> 5x = 100

Dividing both sides by 5

=> x = 20
