The empty spaces in the labor market had to be filled in order for the economy to run, so pretty much everyone managed to get a job with ease. This opened a lot of doors for the African Americans against which there was lot of discrimination until then, so they used the opportunity, managed to get nicer jobs and to prosper in life because of it.
