The preamble of the United States Constitution, establishes the idea of popular sovereignty, in which, the government is created by the people and for the people. Popular sovereignty is a concept in which the power is vested in the people, and it is their choice and decision to give that power to the government in order to secure their unalienable rights and liberties. The Constitution was created with the consent of the States, establishing that it was each state's choice to join the United States.
