Sub 4-2y fo x
4(4-2y)+8y=20
distribute
16-8y+8y=20
16=20
false

therefor there is no solution
if we look carefully, the lines are paralell

answer is no solution

Using the substitution method:

{    x = 4 - 2 y
  4 x + 8y = 20

Subsititute  x = 4 - 2 y

[ 4(4 - 2 y ) + 8y = 20 ]

Refine:

4( 4-2y ) + 8y = 20

16  - 8 y + 8 y = 20

0 =  16 - 20

-4 = 0

-4 = 0

-4 = 0 ( is false , therefore  the system of equations  has no solution )

hope this helps!

x+y=42

Find y

x=42-y

46%(42-y)+57%y=23.1
19.31-46%y+57%y=23.1
11%y=23.1-19.31
11%y=3.79
y=34

The answer is D

What’s the best way to revise for maths? can never remember how to do anything.
Allisa [31]

Repetition is a guaranteed way to learn something. If it is a formula you need to learn, try doing flashcards and reading it over and over again until you can spell it without the flahcard. If it is something like factoring, just do a bunch of factoring problems until you get the feel of it.

Eva and emily can clean the entire house in 4 hours. Eva can do it by herself in 6 hours. How long would it take emily to do it
aksik [14]
Let x = the number of hours Eva needs to complete the job
and y = the number of hours Emily needs to complete the job

x = 6
1/x + 1/y = 1/4
(The amount of work Eva does in 1 hr + the amount of work Emily does in 1 hr should equal 1/4 of the total work)
1/6 + 1/y = 1/4
1/y = 1/12
y = 12 hours
Emily would take 12 hours to do it by herself.

I need help now it's an emergency please help me with this
marshall27 [118]

Answer:

Population of the 48th generation will be 4469.

Step-by-step explanation:

Recursive formula by which the population is increasing,

L_{n+1}=L_n+95

L₀ = 4

Common difference 'd' = 95

Recursive formula represents a linear growth in the population.

Therefore, explicit formula for the given sequence will be,

L_n = L₀ + (n - 1)d [Explicit formula of an Arithmetic sequence]

Here n = Number of terms

L₄₈ = L₀ + (48 - 1)(95)

     = 4 + 4465

     = 4469

Therefore, population of the 48th generation will be 4469.
