12-3=9
12+(x)=-3
-3+(x)= -12

12-3 is 9. Another way to find the difference is by drawing out 12 shapes and canceling out 3. When you count up the remaining shapes you get 9. Another way is simply by subtracting 3 from 12 to get 9.

The result is x^2 +x +4 -21/(x+3).
