sp2606 [1]

Complete question:

He amount of time that a customer spends waiting at an airport check-in counter is a random variable with mean 8.3 minutes and standard deviation 1.4 minutes. Suppose that a random sample of n equals 47 customers is observed. Find the probability that the average time waiting in line for these customers is

a) less than 8 minutes

b) between 8 and 9 minutes

c) less than 7.5 minutes

Answer:

a) 0.0708

b) 0.9291

c) 0.0000

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

n = 47

u = 8.3 mins

s.d = 1.4 mins

a) Less than 8 minutes:

P(X

P(X' < 8) = P(Z< - 1.47)

Using the normal distribution table:

NORMSDIST(-1.47)

= 0.0708

b) between 8 and 9 minutes:

P(8< X' <9) =[\frac{8-8.3}{1.4/ \sqrt{47}}< \frac{X'-u}{s.d/ \sqrt{n}} < \frac{9-8.3}{1.4/ \sqrt{47}}]

= P(-1.47 <Z< 6.366)

= P( Z< 6.366) - P(Z< -1.47)

Using normal distribution table,

NORMSDIST(6.366)-NORMSDIST(-1.47)

0.9999 - 0.0708

= 0.9291

c) Less than 7.5 minutes:

P(X'<7.5) = P [Z< \frac{7.5-8.3}{1.4/ \sqrt{47}}]

P(X' < 7.5) = P(Z< -3.92)

NORMSDIST (-3.92)

= 0.0000

D=rt What does T equal? Lol how is this possible
vampirchik [111]

Answer:

t = D/r

Step-by-step explanation:

you rearrange the equation so that is the subject. when you bring something over the equal sign, it reverses the function so D = r×t becomes t = D/r

Step-by-step explanation:

For easier understanding and calculation; we created a table for solving this question.

Minimum Shipping Cost to Dallas is from Houston and they have 850 air conditioners, Dallas need 800, so ship all required 800 air conditioners from Houston itself

Minimum shipping cost of Atlanta is from Memphis and they have 350 air conditioners, but Atlanta need 700, so ship all the 350 air conditioners that Memphis have to Atlanta

Minimum shipping cost to Denver is from Phoenix and they have 800 air conditioners, but Denver need 250, so ship all the required 250 air conditioners to Denver itself.

<u>Requirement    800       700            250                             </u>

Still Atlanta need 350 air conditioners more, the second minimum shopping cost to Atlanta is from Houston and they have 50 air conditioners left .

So, ship all the 50 air conditioners that Houston have to Atlanta

Also, sent the remaining 300 air conditioners that Atlanta need from Phoenix

<u>Requirement    800       700            250                             </u>

The total cost of shipping = ($ 8 × 800) +( ( $ 12 × 50)+($ 14 × 300) +( $ 8 × 350) ) + ( $ 8 × 250)

= ( $ 6, 400) + $ ( 600 + 4, 200 + 2, 800 ) + $ 2, 000

= $ 16,000

Therefore, the total cost = $ 16,000
