The city council is planning a long, narrow park with a playground at one end and a fountain at the other. They want the playgro

und more than 5 blocks from the fountain and both items at least 2 blocks from the center of the park. The graph below represents the possible positions of the playground, relative to the center of the park. Which compound inequality represents the possible positions of the playground?

Answer:

The following are some inequalities that represent the possible position of the playground.

2x ≥ -2 and x < -3

x + 3 ≤ 1 and –x > -3

x + 4 ≤ 2 and x + 4 > 7

2x – 1 ≥ -5 and 3x < 9

The city council planning for playground, that is more than 5 blocks from fountain and at least 2 blocks from center of park.

A solid dot on negative two points less than -2 and a circle dot on positive three points in the direction indicating greater than 3. So the right inequality is x + 3 ≤ 1 and –x > -3. That represents the possible position of ground.

Hence, the inequality x + 3 ≤ 1 and –x > -3 is the playground's possible position.
