Write the point-slope form of the line that passes through (6, 1) and is parallel to a line with a slope of -3.
pochemuha
Point-slope form : y-y₁=m(x-x₁)

Passes through (6, 1) and parallel to a line with slope of -3.

Simply plug everything in.

*m =slope

y - y₁=m(x-x₁)

y - 1 = -3(x - 6)

Simplify.

y - 1 = -3x + 18

Add 1 to both sides.

y = -3x + 19

Anybody know how to make a linear equation?
andrey2020 [161]

Step-by-step explanation:

To find a linear equation you must look at the line already drawn on the graph and its points to make a linear equation. You also have to follow the formula y=mx+b.  M will be your slope or your rise over run on your graph. You can find the slope by choosing two points on the line and dividing them. For example, (2, 1) and (5, 3). You have to subtract y2 from y1 and then x2 from x1. This will be 3-1/5-2= 2/3= 0.6666.... After you find that, you will use 2 for our x (you can use any x point on the line that you would like). Lastly, to find our b we just have to find the point value that intersects the x-axis. If you need another example please let me know and I'd be happy to help!
