The Soviet Union wanted to spread its communist ideologies. By creating the Berlin Wall, Soviet Union prevented the possible escaping attempts that may have occurred by the civilians that were under control. The United States tried to prevent the spreading of communism by sending aid to countries that were in need. This performance was known as the Marshall Plan. In the end, Soviet Union was brought down because it was not as superior as the United States became. I hope this summed up an answer for you!

The Berlin Blockade was a mischance that occurred during the Cold war  and lasted for nearly one year since “24th June 1948” to “12th May 1949”. It was the eon of “transnational trade” and years after the “Second World War”. Soviet Union gridlocked the roadways, railways, canal admittance in the Western Annexed Berlin for the “Western alliances”. The principal ground of the  occurrence of the blockade was the preliminary phase of the “Cold war”. Joseph Stalin intended to annex “Eastern Europe” through “Salami tactics” and in the intervening time, Czechoslovakia adopted communist dogma ta.  

Soviet sought to bring back “West Berlin” under its control with this blockade.During the  1949 spring, the blockade was quite successful. In contrary to its Western alliances too tossed counter-blockade on eastern Germany , which led to the  severe unavailability and state of political malady. In the whole occurrence, West Berlin was left with a scarcity of food, medicines, and other supplies. On 12th May 1949 blockade was called off by Stalin.

People could also join the market easier and open their own companies since the taxes were smaller. With more companies in the market, the competition was greater, the prices and the products were better. Or at least that's how it was supposed to work in theory.
