in general, what happens to the energy, order, and spacing of particles when a solid turns to a liquid?

For a solid to change its state of matter into liquid, energy is applied or heat is being used. With a solid, particles are very compacted and still, with a liquid they are not as compacted but can still take a defined shape.

$12 - 24 - 3 = (0.75 + 0.25 + 12)I_2 - (10+ 0.25)I_3$

$-15 = 13I_2 - 10.25I_3$

So by solving above equations we have

$I_1 = 0.492 A$

$I_2 = -0.428 A$

$I_3 = 0.920 A$
