Answer: plate tectonics

The plate tectonics is the theory in which the solid outer layer of the earth is composed of interconnected plates what move across the earth's surface. It is based on and incorporates the older theory of continental drift.

Answer:

Plate tectonic theory

Explanation:

Plate tectonic theory states that the earth contains numerous small and large lithospheric plates. These plates constantly moving from one place to another in three different ways such as

1) Convergent plate motion- here two plates move towards each other.

2) Divergent plate motion- here two plates move in the opposite direction, away from each other

3) Transform plate motion- here two plates slide passes each other.

This plate motion occurs due to the convection current that generates on the mantle because of the tremendous heat radiated from the core of the earth and this entire process is commonly known as the plate tectonic theory.

In the case of convergent plate motion, the denser plates get subducted beneath the lighter one and form a trench that appears to be a depression within the oceans and there forms a zone known as the subduction zone.

In the case of a divergent plate motion, it then forms a ridge, which later forms an ocean and the zone of separation of these two plates is known as the mid-oceanic ridge.

So a lot of ridges and subduction zones are present on earth.

A galaxy has less mass than a moon and more mass than a planet.
True
False
TEA [102]

Answer:

False, major false. A galaxy is a small portion of the entire universe... it contains plants, stars, asteroids, moons are insignificant compared to it. Also, pretty much all moons are larger than planets so that wouldn't even make sense.

Which way should an arrow point between a producer and consumer in a food web? Why
Nikitich [7]

Answer:

The arrow should be pointing from the producer towards the consumer.

Producer --> Consumer

Explanation:

The arrow represents the flow of energy in a food web. Producers are the first source of energy, as they make their own food. The energy is then transferred to the consumer when they eat the producer. For example, if a cow were to eat grass, the energy would flow from the grass to the cow. The arrow shows how this energy is flowing from the first source to the second.
