5x - 1 = 6x - 3
-x = -2

LA = 5x - 1
LA = 5(2) - 1 = 9

He first step to solving this question is distributing the three and the four once you have your new equation of 6x+3-8x-20 you can easily add or subtract once you do this you should have -2x-17 which is the answer.
